The Honorable Thomas N. Palermo
Governor Ron DeSantis announced on March 29, 2019 the appointment of Thomas Palermo to the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court. Before becoming a judge, he served for twelve years as a federal prosecutor at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.
During that time, he served as, among other things, the District Opioid Coordinator, coordinating federal anti-opioid efforts. Palermo also served as a state prosecutor for 3 1⁄2 years and served as a federal judicial law clerk.
Palermo received his bachelor’s degree from American University, his Juris Doctorate with honors from Florida State University College of Law, and his L.L.M. in banking and finance law from King’s College London. He recently authored the article “The Opioid Crisis” in Criminal Justice, Winter 2019, an American Bar Association publication. Palermo is currently a member of Economic Club of Tampa joining in 2003.
