The 2018 Florida Economic Forum’s theme was the business of professional sports featuring a panel of leaders from the local professional sports teams. Matt Silverman, Tampa Bay Rays President, Steve Griggs, Tampa Bay Lightning President and Brian Ford, Tampa Bay Buccaneers COO discussed the economic impact of their respective teams, along with moderator Sandra Murman, Hillsborough County Commission Chair.

The 2018 Economic Leader of the Year Award was presented to Port Tampa Bay, the largest annual contributor of $17 billion to the regional economy. CEO Paul Anderson graciously accepted the award which was made out of wood that was harvested from a former Port berth and hand crafted by Economic Club member John Williams. Last year’s award winner, Tampa International Airport CEO, Joe Lopano, offered a video tribute to Mr. Anderson and the seaport.
